My name is Rachael Spears. I graduated from Briercrest College and Seminary in 2017. I have a Master of Counselling. I had personal experiences that impacted my mental health and this led to a desire to help others experience breakthrough in their lives. I have practiced in a non-profit organization and most recently as a Family Preservation Therapist. I worked with families that were looking to reunify. I am looking forward to using my experience working with attachment issues, trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship and grief and loss to help others.
I understand what it feels like to be stuck and longing for freedom. I also understand the challenges faced by those that are struggling with mental illness, work stress, family life, relationships and trying to balance it all. I will provide a trauma-informed approach to therapy and also work with an integrative approach.
I have utilized Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness among other therapy techniques. I am always looking to increase what I can bring to our therapy sessions.
I can provide a Christian approach to counselling for those who are interested.
I am registered with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and the Professional Association of Christian Counsellors and Psychotherapists (PACCP).
I do not directly bill insurance companies so please consult with your provider before you book a session if you are looking to have it covered.
